I’m finally nearing the end. The master should be in the mail now, awaiting my approval. After that, it’s replication and printing. I will alert everyone when it’s available in physical format, as well as iTunes, Amazon, and other online retailers.
I think you will find something special in each and every song. I labored over every aspect of the writing and recording process. I didn’t plan on performing everything on this album. I told several people I needed their help at the onset. Before I new it, I had written, recorded and mixed the entire thing myself. It wasn’t easy, but I never considered giving up. Thank you for hanging in there with me.
In case you want to know what to expect from the new album, I took a different approach this time. The songs are more beat-heavy, the guitar more modulated and effects-laden, and the vibe feels more international. It’s music that travels without a passport. You can hear a touch of all the places I’ve visited. I tried to imagine what could make the nylon-string guitar evolve. Most people stick to classical music, jazz or Latin music and in general, traditional forms when they consider the nylon-string guitar. I wanted to take that notion, and run it through modulation effects, distortion, and all sorts of shimmering, expansive destinations.
I felt as though I were breaking rules and expectations during the creative process. It took some courage to do certain things. But in the end, I’m happy with the recording, and I hope you will be, too.
